Minnetonka Beach is one of the most exclusive residential communities on Lake Minnetonka, a small village of approximately 600 residents on the lake's north shore. Properties here are predominantly lakefront or lake-adjacent, with lot values that reflect their proximity to the water and the privacy of the community. Landscape construction in Minnetonka Beach demands the highest level of design sensitivity and regulatory knowledge because virtually every project intersects with shoreline setback requirements, impervious surface limits, and the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD) permitting process.

The LMCD regulates all construction activity within 75 feet of the ordinary high water level of Lake Minnetonka, which in practice means that most backyard projects in Minnetonka Beach require LMCD review in addition to city building permits.
