Build the part you will use first.

An unfinished or underused backyard does not need every feature at once. Start with a useful outdoor room, then keep later phases connected to the same plan.

Deck with railing, steps, seating, and a hot tub beside a house

Make the first phase feel complete.

Landscape Charlie offers design-build work for Victoria homeowners. A dining space beside the house, a patio reached comfortably from the lawn, or a deck-to-patio connection can each be a focused starting point. The project example above connects deck seating, steps to the lawn, and a hot tub beside the house.

01

Resolve the site before the finish.

Establish the routes from the house, existing elevations, equipment access, water movement, and features that will remain. Supporting ground and the selected construction system determine the preparation. A general statement about local clay cannot specify the correct assembly for your yard.

02

Choose the main outdoor room.

Compare a patio with the way you want to dine and gather. Where levels change, consider the connection to existing decks and any retaining structures that the design may need. The footprint should accommodate real furniture and the route past it.

03

Leave sensible options for later.

A future pergola, fire feature, or lighting may affect today’s layout. Identify those possibilities before access is narrowed or paving is installed. Separate included work from future allowances in the proposal.

Compare finished outcomes, not just feature counts.

A focused project should have a usable surface, clear access, and an agreed finish around the work. A larger outdoor-living plan can coordinate more elements, but it also brings more decisions about design, utilities, approvals, materials, and scheduling.
